Simon Farmer
Music has always been a fundamental part of my life. One of my earliest memories is watching my brother's band rehearse in our front room, where I became completely obsessed with the guitar. Growing up in a tiny house filled with music—from the Stones, Beatles, and Beach Boys to Dylan, jazz, folk, and classical—provided the soundtrack to my childhood. He then became a record producer, and spending time in recording studios with him as a kid sparked my fascination with sound production and music. This dual passion for the technical and creative sides of music led me to pursue a career in sound for film and TV while also joining bands and writing music. In the 1990s, I began composing music for directors and producers I met during filming projects. This experience inspired me to start my own music production company, Kitefield Music. Though my role as a production sound mixer often took precedence, I eventually found myself with longer gaps between projects. These periods allowed me to reconnect with my first love: writing music and working in the studio.
Today, I continue to blend my expertise in sound production with my passion for music, creating compositions that resonate with both filmmakers and audiences alike.
